My mom had a friend who was all hoped on home remedys for EVERYTHING. i got so sunburnt one time i stayed in bed and i was so bad. her friend told her to buy the Zantax or Zantac Antacid medicine for stomach aches and tylenol asprin. Take 1 of each AT THE SAME TIME. Preferably at night. (works faster) and by morning u wont even feel like u have a sunburn.

I know parents who sit in the primary classes for the entire time. The teachers mind, an extra pair of helping hands, and they usually get used to it after a while and let you step out. Ours has little windows in the doors so you can peek in and see how doing and go in there if having trouble adjusting. And the kids who are in there typically just shrug it off. Some need mommy/daddy there, others never seen teasing (I helped teach sunbeams for a while when I was a teen and parents were hanging out all the time.)

You can also talk to the teachers about your concerns. I know that my daughter went for the first time and was nervous, but the teacher let her sit on her lap, and when I peeked in she was sitting by a friend, then on another lap, then by a friend again… so I left. The teacher said she had no issues, so I worry. Maybe they realize the signs of him in stress or know a good way to engage him and you can help?

I also know many sunbeams who go to class with mom/dad. The thing is, they are forced to sit and be bored. "Do you want to go to your class now where you know there will be coloring and fun songs and your friends, or do you want to go with me to my class where I need you to sit quietly…" It did the trick with many a reluctant little one.

But if he goes to class with you or dad, so what? I have him go with you since nursery and just more fun, but worry about it. have him go with daddy, and if he gets to where he wants to go back to class he can always join them halfway through, and you can watch from the window or sit in for a while until
Add: Does he like Sacrament though? taken kids to Sacrament and then gone home before… sounds like you have a fairly uptight Ward. Either that or mine has long since learned that comments like that going to stop me or me. At the same time… I mean if I decided we as a family were going to go to a once a month and my child like it make them go because I want to give them that of control. I have to admit, we did do something similar to what K is suggesting. We actually bought her her first pair of scriptures and she was excited about that, with a patch and stickers. I give it to her for going though. Just for turning 3.

I mean, my daughter, if she was having trouble adjusting, let her take one of her dolls since I know that would help her, or one of her books, something that would help her. But then again, seen 3-4-5-even 6 year olds sitting in Relief Society with mom, or going with dad and no one batted an eye. No reason to make him go. But if your Ward is that uptight… sheesh.
